Mark Golan, Chief Executive Officer
Adura’s executives have a deep understanding of customer needs. This knowledge starts with its CEO who has been a senior corporate real estate executive for more than 20 years at tech companies such as Cisco, Sun and HP. Most recently, Mark was the VP/GM for Johnson Control’s outsourced corporate real estate services business in the Americas. This combined experience gives him a unique perspective of the needs of both the end customer and their primary outsourced service providers.
Prior to Johnson Controls, Mark was the Vice President of Global Workplace Solutions at Cisco where he had direct budget control and responsibility for all aspects of RE including acquisition and disposition of space, construction of buildings and projects, and all services that took place within the 17 million square feet portfolio. He was also the founder of the Cisco Connected Real Estate initiative which he helped drive as a VP within the Internet Systems Solutions Group.
Mark started his career in investment banking with Morgan Stanley and Smith Barney where he held a variety of positions.
Mark served as Chairman of CoreNet Global, the world’s leading association for corporate real estate professionals, service providers and economic developers. He also served eight years as a Board member of the Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce. He graduated with honors from Tufts University with a BA in economics and received his MBA from Dartmouth College where he was elected a Tuck Scholar.
Charlie Huizenga, Chief Technology Officer & Co-founder
Adura co-founder Charlie Huizenga is a respected scientist in the field of built environments and his leadership and innovative discoveries have driven Adura’s technology platform from day one. Charlie is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Architecture at UC Berkeley, where the research that underlies Adura’s technology began as a university-based project. As Chief Scientist and co-founder, his daily presence ensures that Adura continues to deliver compelling products to its customers. In 2003, he developed Adura’s core wireless technology at the UC Berkeley Center for the Built Environment (CBE). His focus as a researcher is on energy-efficient buildings and indoor environmental quality and he has been conducting research on built environments since 1983. His research interests include building energy monitoring, design and operation of building energy systems, energy simulation and software development.
Charlie’s interests in improving the human condition go far beyond increasing the energy efficiency and environmental conditions of commercial building interiors. He is also co-founder of Agua Para La Vida, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing assistance to rural Central American communities in need of clean drinking water. Charlie holds an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley and a B.A. in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College. He is a member of ASHRAE, ASES, SBSE, and AEE.

At Silicon Energy, Dale pioneered the creation of the world’s first enterprise energy management system. He became Director of Technology Strategy at Itron Inc. when Itron acquired Silicon Energy. Dale has been a leader in developing software for real-world commercial energy use for decades. In the late 1980s, Dale developed a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system that was used to monitor and control a majority of the PG&E electrical distribution grid in Northern California. Dale has a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Cornell University. He holds three U.S. patents and is a contributing author of “Guide to Energy Management” (Fairmont Press, 2005).
Michael Corr, VP Hardware
Michael has been thinking through the development of new technologies for much of his career. Before designing and managing the development of Adura’s embedded wireless hardware system, he spent seven years at SRI International, one of the world’s leading new technology research institutes. He focused on embedded system & RF technology as a Senior Researcher in the Engineering and Systems Group at SRI. Prior to working at SRI, Michael spent two years designing and developing his own routing protocols for mobile ad-hoc networks as part of his Master’s research efforts at Dartmouth College.
At Adura, he manages all components of the wireless product line including hardware and firmware design and development. Michael finds the most interesting challenges of his position are involved with the process of taking a product from a listed set of requirements all the way through design, prototyping, testing, and into overseas high-volume production. He holds a B.E. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Dartmouth College. Outside of the office, you can most likely find Michael either biking on the beautiful Marin county roads or backcountry skiing in the mountains of Lake Tahoe.
